Against the global trend of carbon neutrality and sustainable development, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and product carbon footprint have become core indicators to measure the environmental performance of industrial materials. Following the internationally recognized ISO 14067, PAS 2050 and ISO 14040/14044 standards, we have carried out comprehensive LCA and carbon footprint accounting for our silicone leather, covering the complete life cycle: raw material extraction, production, packaging & transportation, product application, reuse and final disposal. Compared with traditional genuine leather, PU and PVC synthetic leather, our silicone leather presents outstanding advantages in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, resource consumption and environmental pollution.

Product carbon footprint refers to the total emissions of seven major greenhouse gases converted into carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂ eq.) throughout the product life cycle. According to standard LCA procedures, we defined the functional unit, clarified system boundaries, collected full-process activity data including material consumption, energy consumption, waste discharge and logistics information, and calculated GHG emissions in every link.
Different from petroleum-based PU, PVC and resource-intensive genuine leather, silicone leather takes natural silica mineral as the main raw material, which greatly reduces dependence on non-renewable fossil energy. Our production adopts fully solvent-free processes, generating nearly no waste gas, wastewater and solid pollutants. In the links of raw material mining and manufacturing, the total CO₂ equivalent emission of silicone leather is significantly lower: its carbon footprint is only about 1/8 of genuine leather and less than 1/5 of conventional synthetic leather. Throughout transportation, usage and end-of-life treatment, it also keeps a low emission level, realizing effective carbon reduction across the whole value chain.
While optimizing environmental performance via low carbon emissions, our material never compromises on human health and safety. The silicone leather has passed OEKO-TEX Standard 100 , the strictest grade for mother and baby products. It contains no formaldehyde, heavy metals, phthalate plasticizers, azo dyes and other restricted substances.
This superior safety is applicable to a wide range of scenarios beyond mother and baby products. In healthcare settings, the material withstands repeated disinfection without releasing toxic substances, lowering health risks for patients and medical staff. For automotive interiors, ultra-low VOC eliminates peculiar smells and harmful volatiles under high temperature, protecting the respiratory health of drivers and passengers. It is also ideal for home furniture and public facilities, providing gentle and hypoallergenic contact for the elderly and people with sensitive skin.

Supported by LCA data, long service life is another key advantage to cut comprehensive carbon footprint. Our silicone leather features excellent resistance to high and low temperature, abrasion, stain and aging. Its long service cycle reduces product replacement frequency, so as to save raw materials, energy and extra carbon emissions caused by repeated production and transportation.
In the end-of-life stage, silicone leather can be recycled and reused at a high rate. After disposal, it will be decomposed into harmless substances without leaving persistent pollution to soil, water and atmosphere. It fully complies with the requirements of circular economy, and helps enterprises complete carbon management, apply carbon labels and respond to international carbon tariff and green trade regulations.
